Propane tank connections are often broken down into either Type 1 or Type 2. The difference between the two is that A Type 1 valve is attached to the propane hose from the grill with a large plastic screw connection that needs to be firmly tightened for the valve to operate correctly. Whereas a Type 2 connection uses a spring-loaded connection. A metal ring on the tank then slides back to connect with the hose and snaps into place to secure the connection.
